Amédée Mathier.
Amédée Mathier, with his roots in Valais and a passionate lover of wine and vines, lives in Salgesch, the place his family made their home in 1387. Every day he strives to improve the quality of his wines and offer wine lovers moments of happiness. He is considered a visionary of Valais wine and viticulture.
As a native Valaisan, he cultivates vineyards from Leuk to Leytron, with the heart of the vineyards located in Salgesch, the Swiss wine-growing community. Amédée is passionate about cultivating historical grape varieties as well as classic and confidential varieties. It awakens emotions in the wine connoisseur. His motto “Wine & Emotion” guides him in his daily work. Amédée is considered a pioneer of natural wines. He is the first producer in Western Europe to produce wines in Kvevris (Georgian amphorae).
Claudio Tamborini.
In 1969, Claudio Tamborini took over the family business Tamborini SA, which at the time specialized in importing Italian wines into Ticino. As a trained oenologist, he quickly recognized the potential of Ticino for the production of high-quality Merlots. He built cellars in Lamone, north of Lugano, and acquired vineyards, particularly on the slopes of Comano. The grapes from these prestigious plots are used for the Merlot Riserva Comano in the best years.
Claudio Tamborini, a pioneer of Ticino wine, made a significant contribution to the fame of the region’s Merlots. In 2012, he was named “Best Winemaker of the Year” and is one of the 150 best Swiss winemakers of 2023 according to the Gault et Millau guide.
Annie Rossi & Matthias Tobler.
Annie Rossi, oenologist and general manager of the Grisoni winery, embodies continuity and innovation. Together with Matthias Tobler, also an oenologist at the winery, she combines traditional expertise and modern techniques to create wines that reflect the authenticity of the terroir.
